My first sneak peek shows a cute kitten and his birthday presents. I used a technique called masking for this design. With masking, one rule of thumb is this...the image that you want on full show when the card is complete, is the image you stamp first and mask first. Therefore, I stamped the cat and box, then stamped the same image on masking paper and fussy cut it out. I repeated this process for my second stamped image of the pile of presents. You will see that I added a heart background. This was achieved by having both images masked off then, using a stencil (any shape would do). I ink blended some of my oxide ink to the white space around all the masked areas. Before peeling away any masking, I added some white splatter, just to give it a little something extra. I don't know if it is just me, but gosh I love peeling away the masking to reveal the final effect. It always blows me away! To colour the images I used my Copic markers BG13, BG18, E70 & E74. R21 for the nose and ears. Look at this little guy!!!! Goodness, sooooo cuuuuute! Anyway, lets talk about the design and not get distracted with such cuteness, hahaha! So, pretty straight forward- I cut out the images and coloured them with Copic markers: Balloons-Y00, Y11 & Y15 & Mr. Turtle-G21, G24, G94, E31, E34 & E37. I used the Large Rainbow Circle Confetti Cut in this release to create the blue and white circle behind Mr. Turtle. For some added texture, which I like sometimes with coloured images, I cut out the new Folklore Cover Plate from the new release. This really added something actually so that was a good idea and always worth thinking about if you think your cardstock matting needs a little something extra. Cut the design just right for a card featuring the cupped rose and another card featuring the flat rose. Stamp the heartwarming sentiments and quotes to inspire your loved ones. We hope you love this stamp set as much as we do! Let's Look at my Designs With this Magnificent Branch Set I wanted to use a colour that is not always my 'go to' so to speak when colouring the flowers. So, I came up with blue hues. Blues and greens always look magnificent together and suited this new release perfectly. I love the illustration of this stamp set, the branch arches out across the cardstock. Pretty impressive actually. I tried to demonstrate here that the branch is really easy to use with any sized card. You will see I have created an A2 and a standard slimline. To get that wonderful colour dimension, I used the coordinating stencils. To finish, I added some highlight and dots with my size 10 Jelly Roll pen. I may have gone a bit overboard with my dots, but I don't care as I love how it turned out. Bold and MAGNIFICENT! Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 05/03/2022. Let's Look at my Designs Vibrant Florals The Vibrant Florals Bundle includes a magnificent hot foil plate with co-ordinating stencils. With the hot foil plate, I decided to use rose gold foil as shown above and silver foil to the right. With the rose gold, the ink colours I used were softer and achieved this by using the coordinating stencils and very lightly put down the colour with my small blending brush. For the sentiment above, I die cut the Simply Thank You Die and layered it up. For the top and final layer, I lightly brushed some colour onto some cardstock. For my card to the right, I used stronger ink colours that were cool but vibrant to pop off the silver hot foil. Hopefully, you will see the difference between the two cards yet I used the same suite of products? Lacy Doily The Lacy Doily Die is beautiful! This can be used in so many ways and it die cuts beautifully. I used subtle beige cardstock but I could see it in gold, silver or any colour to suit. I decided to go soft and because of how intricate it was I wanted to demonstrate it in elegant form. This idea then needed something bold and elegant to bring it together...the fabulous Fancy Hello Die was perfect. The photo may not pick it up so well, but I die cut a couple of the sentiments in white but for the top layer, I die cut it in shiny black cardstock. It looks amazing in real life! This die is going to be a staple in my stash from now on. Morning Blooms The Morning Blooms Bundle includes the Morning Blooms Hot Foil Plate with coordinating stencils. I went out of my comfort zone a little with this card. Why you ask? Well, I hot foiled in copper, and being the coordinated person that I am, I needed to add a copper back panel. I still don't know if I like it?? Altenew sent me some of their new *extra release 1/4" Ultra Sticky Double Sided Tape which came in very handy here, as I used it to attach my designed panel to the shiny copper panel.. This tape is perfect for when you want to stick a shiny surface. Bountiful Bouquet - Altenew's 8th Anniversary Release The Bountiful Bouquet Bundle.....I can not even begin to describe how beautiful this set is. It's a layering stamp set and the set is huuuuuge! So appropriately called Bountiful Bouquet. It also has a matching die. This release is the second *extra I referred to at the beginning of my post in this hop. This stamp set has been released by Altenew as part of their 8th year anniversary celebrations.. Can you believe it's been 8 years since we first enjoyed Altenew Stamps?? Craft Your Life Project Kit: Fragrant Florals Product Description: Send hugs and snuggles to your loved ones with this beautiful arrangement of anemones. The large stamp size makes it quite versatile, as you will be able to stamp it off of your card base at different angles and proportions to get different looks. It is a lovely image to color or use stamped as is. We have also incorporated some heartfelt sentiments in bold fonts to contrast the delicate nature of the flowers. Enjoy our Craft Your Life Project Kit, an exciting monthly package that is sure to get the creative juices flowing! Featuring a 6x8 stamp set, coordinating die set, as well as a stencil set and an embossing folder to fit the theme, this project kit has almost everything you need to start crafting. Just add ink and cardstock, and you'll be good to go! My Designs Okay, confession...I really struggle to cut my florals! This has become obvious to me the longer I have created floral cards. It looks fantastic on other designers work, but I see a gorgeous floral like this one and I just can not bring myself to do it. I am working on this, as I truly believe it looks so creative. Anyway, back to my first design. I can honestly say, this is one of my own favourite cards of all time. Because I am allergic to cutting florals, I had to make a square card for this beauty. To be able to colour an image, which I did with the co-ordinating stencils in the kit with lilac and grey hues, and dry emboss it with the matching 3D embossing folder is a big WOW!!! I got so excited as I have never done this before. I added the large glittered cardstock sentiment right across the middle just to see it, but not take away from the beautiful floral. I just love it! So, I felt it was a real challenge to take these photos. It looks amazing in real life, but I feel I could not quite get the dimension to come through. I love white on white and wanted to just add a faint hint of colour. Hopefully you can see the effects? I added a matching gift tag and CUT...yes, I said CUT the floral. Maybe because it was white and I hadn't spent a while colouring it in it was easier to cut? Anyway, from little acorns etc etc. Craft-Your-Life Monthly Subscription: Did you know that the Craft-Your-Life Project Kit has a Monthly Subscription Plan where you save 14% off the bundle by signing up? • Sparkling Diamonds Plate by Pinkfresh Studio

Hi friends I just had to share this card with you all as I was thrilled to play with the new Sparkling Diamonds Plate by Pinkfresh Studio. There is no doubt at all that this is going to be a favourite of mine. This month Pinkfresh Studio released some new washi tapes, and Lea & Heather did a great episode on Washi 101 to help you with ways to use it along with some useful info about their washes. This all got me into designing a card with one of my favourite washi tapes by Pinkfresh Studio called Blossoms & Berries I wanted to share this card because I think the Sparkling Diamonds Plate actually looked really effective and reminded me of quilt work therefore, I emphasized this with adding some bling. It looks so cool! I have a busy crafty few months ahead...I am guesting for three different companies and there is the Pinkfresh Studio Create & Connect weekend in May...Phew! Have a wonderful week and take care!

  • Altenew Craft-A-Flower: African Daisy Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi crafty friends! You may have found yourself here from the very talented Virginia Lu I love the Craft-A-Flower sets by Altenew. Truly! I enjoy creating with die cuts as I like dimension and die cutting makes dimension fun. This latest CAF release is the African Daisy. African Daisy Apparently, the African Daisy is a fairly infrequently used annual that is a tough plant, native to South Africa and has beautiful silvery gray foliage. Apparently, they hail sand and rocky areas in South Africa and need well drained soil to perform their best. Giveaway Prizes $200 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop by 04/13/2022 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 7 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 04/15/2022. My Design So, as creativity is being able to work within one's own ideas, I decided to create a daisy incorporating the Summer Afternoon & Green Meadows Gradient Cardstock Sets. I added these to my pics so you could see them easily. It's not so obvious, but I actually used a sponge dauber to add some dye ink to the cardstock pieces before joining them together. This is a good tip if you want to also add some depth of colour and/or dimension to die cuts. I use the Scalloped Frame 3D Embossing folder and fussy cut it out. This is the backdrop for my African Daisy. Despite what I wrote earlier about silvery gray foliage, my design has bright green foliage. To finish I added a tag with a sentiment and some gold braid, also adding to the dimension. Below shows you the layering process which is always on the description card for you and its really helpful. • Pigment Craft Co Botanicals

Hi friends I had some winter season stamp and die releases by Pigment Craft Co so decided to create a spring like set of cards to show you don't have to stick to the season your stamps were designed for. I used the unique Pigment Craft Co palette of course, but this big beautiful botanical can be used for any card any time of year. You will see here that I used a wreath from a different set to show the same kind of idea. Just a quick pop in today, but thought you would appreciate the inspiration. Take care and see you very soon!

You may have found your way here from the super talented Virginia Lu if not, you can start at the beginning of the blog hop which commencing at the Altenew Card Blog Giveaway Prizes $200 in total prizes! Belladonna Lillies Brighten a loved one's day with stunning Belladonna Lilies. These gorgeous summer bloomers produce multiple fragrant flowers on each impressive stalk. In this stamp set, Altenew have brought this exotic plant to paper through a delicately drawn outline image. The flowers have four coloring layers, and the stem has two coloring layers that will add depth and character to this beautiful flower. The Build-A-Flower: Belladonna Lilies special edition stamp and die set is only sold as a bundle. It includes one 6" x 8" clear photopolymer stamp set (20 individual stamp images) and one coordinating die set (1 die). Let's Look at my Designs I love the Belladonna Lily illustrations, It really appealed to me and so I wanted to design two quite different cards using the stamp and die set. I used the lilac hues for my first card, interspersed with silver heat embossing. I hope you can see how effective the embossing is especially on the third picture. For my second card, I wanted a more colourful design. I also didn't stamp the layers this time, but copic coloured them. The stamp set is so beautiful and the detail in the outline stamp is amazing and it stamped so crisp. I loved colouring them. Once coloured, I die cut the finished images but then cut them in pieces so I could frame the cardstock. It has a beautiful effect, but for some reason I avoid doing it..but I have made a decision to try cutting up flowers more often as it can really add options to the card design and it's so creative! I hope I have inspired you?! Do you enjoy the Build-A-Flower series? Then why not join the Build-A-Flower Monthly Subscription Plan where you can save 14%. I hope you enjoyed visiting today? Hi friends! I wanted to let you know that theses adorable mini stamps and dies are all now available to purchase as a bundle over in the Altenew shop. I added them to notecards, but I think they would be really cute added to journals and scrapbooking pages too. It really feels like spring now thank goodness. These little images remind me of spring and how soon I will be in my garden planting....yay! See you next time!

  • Altenew March 2022 Whimsical Fairy Tale Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in prizes)

Hi crafty friends! Today I am thrilled to be participating in the Altenew's Whimsical Fairy Tale Blog Hop, where they are celebrating the release of new stand alone embossing folders & stencils. You may have found your way here from the super talented Jaycee Gaspar if not, you can start at the beginning of the blog hop which commencing at the Altenew Card Blog Giveaway Prizes $300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 03/31/2022 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 04/02/2022. Let's Look at my Designs Scalloped Frame 3D Embossing Folder This 3D embossing folder, Scalloped Frame is going to be a staple in my stash. It forms a fantastic backdrop for a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card. I used it here to frame the Fancy For You Die with a little bit of pink ink blended colour. I added some bling to compliment the colour and voila! This simple design can be made to any colour you like, with any die cut sentiment you like and be ready to go for whatever occasion. What more inspiration do you need? Sylvan Baroque 3D Embossing Folder Well, isn't this folder a beauty? I love the swirls, its so pretty. For my design, I added some ink to the inside of the embossing folder. Only on the raised edges. I swept the ink pad across, so it would give a distressed finish look. It was an experiment, but it worked!. I then ran the Sylvan Baroque embossing folder through my machine with some heavy weight cardstock. I only ever use heavy weight cardstock, minimum 100lb. I finished with a sentiment that had a mixture of fonts which complimented the design. To finish, I added some black enamel dots to the centre of the flowers. Simple, but effective. Peony Sunshine 3D Embossing Folder Okay, this design took a bit more time to create than my previous two cards. This was because I decided to cut alternated strips of cardstock and place them in the Peony Sunshine embossing folder before I ran it through my die cutting machine. I was curious how this would turn out, but it looked pretty cool actually. It was a challenge to get a picture that could really show up the definition of the folder, but thankfully as its a 3D embossing folder, you can see it not too bad. As with my other designs, you can mix and match this technique with any of the embossing folders in this release. And, all different coloured cardstock! I hope you enjoyed visiting today? You are welcome to stop by anytime for further inspiration or you can visit my Instagram @cherylespiecreates as I try to post new designs 3-5 times a week.
