  • Altenew - Craft Your Life Retreat Collection-Oriental Poppy

Hi crafty friends, Well, do I have a treat for you today! Oh my goodness, this Craft Your Life Retreat Collection- Oriental Poppy is stunning! So much so, that I wanted to make something extra special with it. Therefore, I decided on a trifold card with a matching belly band. Let's See How I Created It To begin with, I stamped a few of the images on white cardstock with Altenew's Obsidian Black Ink, which I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The kit has stencils so I used them to colour the images. The poppy flowers are coloured with the Altenew's Red Cosmos ink pad set: Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red & Grapevine. The leaves are Forest Glades & Moss. By having the coordinating dies in the kit, it helped knowing I would be able to die cut the images add them onto my trifold card and the belly band. For the trifold base I cut two card bases measuring 6" x 8" . On one of the card bases I scored it 2", rotated it, then scored at 2" again at the other end. Then, I stamped, heat embossed and stencilled two poppy images across from each other overlapping the scored cardstock on the scored card base. Using the coordinating dies, I partially die cut the poppy images. Then, I cut off the excess cardstock along the score line up to the die cut poppy on each side. With the second piece of 6" x 8" cardstock I scored at 4" but I decided to cut 1/8" off each side as I figured the card would not fold neatly otherwise. It's on this bard base that I added the sentiment, also heat embossed, and another flower and leaves combo. To finish the card I attached the back of this base to the original first partially die cut poppy base with Altenew's double sided sticky tape. Hopefully, that makes sense. I think the reel video over on my Instagram @cherylespiecreates will help as you will see me unfold the final card. Now for the belly band. I cut a white cardstock strip 2 3/8" x 9" I scored it at 2 3/8", rotated and repeated at the other end. Again, I used the double sided sticky tape to close the band. I added another poppy and leaf combo on the front of the band and voila!!! It sure sounds a lot of steps when you are writing it down, and it took me a while to make but that was because I wanted it to fit neatly inside a 5" x 7" envelope, and I was practicing with different sizes to make it work so you guys didn't have to. If you haven't already done so, you should go check out the Altenew's full release from today on my previous blog post because this card and others are featured as part of a big blog hop today. If you go follow the hop and leave comments you have a chance to win prizes, but you need to leave your comments on my other blog hop post to qualify. Well friends, I hope you will give this kind of project a try. It's certainly ends up having amazing results, and I can only imagine how special the recipient would feel receiving such a detailed card. See you again very soon....

  • Altenew June 2022 Fine & Dandy Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hi crafty friends! Today I am participating in a wonderful Altenew blog hop to celebrate a huuuuuuge release called Fine & Dandy! In this release, there are stand alone dies, hot foil plates and stencils. You may have found your way here from the amazing Terri Koszler if not, you can start at the beginning of the blog hop on the Altenew Card Blog Giveaway Prizes-$300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificates to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post by 06/27/2022 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 06/29/2022. Let's Look at my Designs Where do I start with these cards? I used lots of different paper crafting delights here. Altenew were kind enough to send me some brand new cardstock for this release. I received two shades Brushed Copper Metallic Cardstock & Brushed Rose Metallic Cardstock. The shades are beautiful and so it made sense to me to die cut a whole background from each colour using the Scallops Cover Die which is also in this release. By the way, this cover die cut so well and I will be using it again! Remember the Belladonna Lily Stamp? Well, I stamped it twice and here I did some simple Copic colouring to compliment the cardstock colours. For the brushed rose I used E70 & E74 and for the brushed copper G24 & YR24. To separate the sentiment and Lily, I used one of the dies from the also newly released, Stitched Scallop Circles Die Set So, it's just been Father's Day but knowing this release was coming out near it, I decided to design some cards that would be helpful for the guys in your life. I know cards for men can be challenging, so I thought you would appreciate some inspiration for them. I think (or assume) guys wouldn't be too keen on a fussy floral card....step in the Fine Rings Hot Foil Circles! I used gold and black hot foil as they give a strong contrast. I had to do a a bit of on/off the hot plate but it is worth it for the effect. I then die cut the Essential Sentiments Strips Die set in black and gold cardstock. That wonderful 'happy thoughts' sentiment is from previously released stamp Fragrant Florals that was in the Craft Your Life Project Kit. To finish I matted on black cardstock and popped up the panel for some dimension. Now, how fantastic does that Exquisite Marble Hot Foil Plate look?! This hot foil plate is a beauty. It transferred the foil so well and the effect was outstanding. I can really see this in different colours, which I intend to try, but for today's card and matching tag, I wanted to keep the gold and black theme. For the 'DAD" sentiment I used the Fine Alphabet Die Set and cut the letters out several times with shiny black cardstock. I glued three laters together for each letter. Loved how they turned out. The tag was cut from the new Labels & Tags 1 Die Set also in this release, after I had hot foiled the Exquisite Marble plate again on white cardstock. To finish, some black dots to tie it altogether. Oriental Poppy Project Bundle Now for something very special......The Oriental Poppy Project Bundle!!!!! I have written separate blog post for this beauty because it's so gorgeous and it took a long time to create as it's a trifold card with a matching belly band. So, if you want more details, you are welcome to check out my next post, but make sure you comment on this blog post as it's part of the hop and I would not want you to miss out on your chance chance to win! • Reverse Confetti-June Stock Your Stash Challenge

Hi friends! I'm thrilled to continue with my guest designing with Reverse Confetti for the month of June. Today, I am sharing three projects I made for the Stock Your Stash challenge for this month. The themes are Hello & Just Because. For my designs, I didn't have any Hello/Just Because dies or stamps in my Reverse Confetti stash, so I thought a little wider than that and designed cards for you that are outside of a normal birthday card. Sincere Condolences, I'm Proud of You & Hope. Roses | Folklore Cover Panel Here is the Roses Stamp coloured with Copic sketch markers. The stamp has this magnificent floral arrangement and has four sentiments in the stamp set that are really useful. I think sympathy cards can be a challenge at times, so I decided to make one with this set for that reason. For that beige panel behind the florals, you will see I embossed the Folklore Cover Panel and cut it out using the coordinating frame confetti cut that is also part of this bundle. This Roses Bundle set is one of my favourites in the whole Reverse Confetti release. Its not cutsie but an extremely practical stamp and die set to have in your stash that you can go to again and again. Love Wins | Circle Gift Card Holder Okay, so it's been graduation season and the Circle Gift Card Holder should have been put to good use I think! When I saw this little guy with glasses on from the Love Wins Stamp Set and that wonderful sentiment, I thought it paired perfectly on a card with a gift card attached. This is a simple card design, and I think that is okay, don't you? I stamped a white panel with the little heart stamp from the Love Wins set in different colours, then coloured the little guy to compliment it. I die cut the Circle Gift Card Holder, then added the sentiment....Voila! Easy peasy, lemon squeazy! A Beautiful Day This is another of my favourites in the Reverse Confetti release - A Beautiful Day. Again, every stamp stash should have butterflies in it! This technique is a commonly used one in cardmaking. You heat emboss the stamped images in white then, use your choice of inks and blend them over the top of the dried white heat embossing. It reveals such gorgeous results. I chose to use two inks and alternated them for a gradient effect. So pretty. You will see I also add an embossed sentiment along with my images at the beginning so, when all the ink blending was done all I needed to do was cut the card base and add some bling. Well, I hope I have inspired you to create something for the Reverse Confetti Stock Your Stash Challenge for this month? Don't forget, you can pop by my blog any time for some inspiration. You can also find me on @cherylespiecreates on Instagram Until next time....

To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop by 06/18/2022 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 06/20/2022. Let's Look at my Designs Today, I am sharing projects made with two of the subscription kits: Craft Your Life Project Kit: Silk Art Craft- A - Flower: Cape Marguerite Craft Your Life Project Kit: Silk Art The Craft Your Life project Kit-Silk Art has the 3D embossing folder, the gorgeous stamp set, stencils and the coordinating die included. You can do anything you want, with what colours you want, with any technique you want - Winner! My designs demonstrate what different projects can look like using the same kit. The 3D embossing folder is mind blowing to me. I used to own a few embossing folders back in the day and I found them boring, so gave them away. I'm so glad they are much better today, 3D is incredible! I love dimension! For the centre card I stamped the image first in coordinating coloured ink. Then, I splattered it with white acrylic paint. Once dried, I then die cut it and put the die cut into the 3D embossing folder. To see the final embossed image is magical! (or am I just sad?...lol) Aaaaand, typical me, I just could not bring myself to cut it to the edge of the card front, so you get the whole design here. Craft Your Life Project Kit Monthly Subscription: Did you know that the Craft-Your-Life Project Kit has a Monthly Subscription Plan where you save 14% off the bundle by signing up? SIGN UP HERE! Craft-A-Flower: Cape Maguerite Okay, so I went completely different with my designs for the Cape Marguerite! I think I was in a pink mood! Though I did do a little bit of research and apparently depending on the species, you can get pink ones. One thing the photo does not do very well is show how cool the petals look in real life. Do you know, that after I die cut each petal arrangement and leaf, I then ink blended lightly on the ends of each one and curled it? This technique has been around a long time and it is used to add dimension, and helps make a die cut looked more 'aged'. You can see I made a slimline here, and a standard A2 card and the texture is so cool on them both. Craft-A-Flower Monthly Subscription: Did you know that the Craft-A-Flower has a Monthly Subscription Plan? When signed up, you are guaranteed a spot in Altenew's monthly Craft-A-Flower releases and will receive a set each month - at a specially discounted price! ($35.99 →$29.99) Sign up HERE! I hope you have enjoyed visiting me today. You are welcome to stop by anytime for further inspiration or, you can visit my Instagram @cherylespiecreates where I try to post designs 3-5 a week. Why not continue with the blog hop and get some inspiration and see what the other talented designers have created? Your next stop on the hop is the amazing Michelle Short so go show her some love and support! Until next time.....keep crafting!

  • Reverse Confetti-June's Creative Blog Hop

Hi friends You may have joined me here directly from Reverse Confetti! I am thrilled to be joining Reverse Confetti as a continued guest designer for the month of June. The big release was in May and today we are adding more inspiration for you and having a blog hop to celebrate. This release was so wonderful. It had florals/butterflies and cutsie stamps so perfect it's for what ever you may fancy creating. I can waver, depending what mood I am in, so that's what I am sharing with you today -a collection of inspiration! A Beautiful Day | Circle Gift Card Holder A Beautiful Day....really is beautiful. I love butterflies, and I love colouring them. For my design, I used black pigment ink to stamp the images, then added clear embossing powder and embossed the outlines. There's a couple of reasons why I like to do this. It adds a beautiful bold, clean crisp finish and also, it doesn't smear with whatever medium you choose. I coloured these pretties in a combination of violet and pink Copic sketch markers. Then, I was very brave and I die cut the whole design using the Circle Gift Card Holder Confetti Cut. Then, I used one of the sentiments from the Roses Stamp Set and heat embossed this the same way. Bold Beautiful Butterflies....love it! Birthday Buddies | Large Rainbow Circle Look at this guy...don't you just love him?! This Birthday Buddies Stamp Set is the CUTEST!! Arghhh! As a colour combo, I decided to mix pink, navy and gold. First, I did a little ink blending in pink on the white cardstock base, then gave it a good splattering in gold. Next, I die cut the Large Rainbow Confetti Cut three times, once in each colour. I cut a big circle of navy cardstock as a base to adhere the curved strips to and used double sided sticky tape for this. I coloured the little guy, his bones and his hat in complimentary Copic colours and then adhered them to the circle. The sentiment is from the coordinating Confetti Cuts called Birthday Buddies Banter. I heat embossed this in gold as you can see and I think it brought all the colours together nicely. Big Confetti Tag I am so thrilled how these shaker gift tags turned out. They are kind of elegant adult shaker tags which is pretty cool actually and I think they would work for anniversary/wedding gifts as well as birthdays or graduation. The Big Confetti Tag Confetti Cuts can make shakers OR single layer large and small tags-which I showed you on my blog hop in May. For the sentiments. I used an older sentiment stamp set by Reverse Confetti called Mixed Messages. I love a fancy font teamed with a smaller regular font. What I decided to do, was heat emboss the sentiments on heat resistant acetate. So cooooool-love how they turned out. What I don't like with shaker cards and acetate is having powder residue left over, so I tried using a Bounce tumble dryer sheet instead-worked fabulously! The background paper is from Revere confetti paper pad in my stash and I chose the dark non fussy paper so it did not distract from the gold and silver bling. So, after lots of sticky foam and double sided sticky tape shenanigans this is how they turned out. Well, I hope you have enjoyed your visit today? I love having you over and I truly hope to have inspired you to take time out for yourself and do something crafty. You can always find more inspiration on the CherylEspieCreates Instagram page where I try to show new designs 4-5 times per week. Now go over to see what the amazingly talented Heather Ruwe has created on the hop and have fun! Until next time.....

Let's Look at my Designs Climbing Leaves The Climbing Leaves Stamp and Die Bundle is beautiful and I had fun using gold embossing powder to stamp with. Altenew had already released the gorgeous Alcohol Ink Backgrounds 6x6 Paper Pad and I knew this would be perfect for this technique. The background will need to stand out against the leaves stamp, but also compliment it, these papers were just the job! To be fair, you could make your own alcohol ink backgrounds, but I am a generally a clean crafter and I don't really enjoy techniques that can get messy. I think heat embossing and ink blending could be my limit, haha. So, I chose my paper, I brushed it over with my powder tool, thoroughly coated the Climbing Leaves stamp with Versamark clear ink, then pressed, and pressed and pressed the stamp onto the paper. The MISTI is really helpful with this kind of technique as your stamp is then lined up should you need to add more Versamark Ink. Embossing powder should be liberally added, mine was gold but I think you could choose any neutral colour? Following drying the powder with my heat tool, I then cut the Climbing Leaves Stamp set out with the coordinated die cut when it had cooled. I chose a white card base so it stood out and then added a complimentary large word die, also from white cardstock.. The quotes are included in the Climbing Leaves Stamp Set, and were stamped in Altenew's amazing Obsidian Pigment Ink. Floral Henna Bundle As soon as I saw this Henna Stamp/Die/Stencil Bundle I fell in love! That might sound dramatic, but truly, I loved it immediately. It had crisp clean lines, and some classic Henna style with floral, perfect for me. I didn't want to cover the beautiful images, which is why I decided the leave some of them without colour. This is actually a really cool idea for some stamps, just adding a pop of colour. The coordinating stencils allows you to do that very easily too. Enjoy Life Bundle How pretty are these florals in the Enjoy Life Bundle? When I see florals like these that are designed tall I immediately think of a slimline card but, I challenged myself to create a regular A2 size as well. I used the coordinated stencils to colour them...who doesn't enjoy a good stencil to make them feel like a colouring genius?! I love pretty light colours together and this lemon and light green combo always go so well together. I need to draw your attention to the sentiments Here's A Hug & Hope All is Well. I created these bold glossy sentiments by stamping them from the brand new Bold Sentiment Stamp Set in Altenew's Obsidian Pigment Ink, then embossing them with clear embossing powder. It really enhances the look don't you think? I hope you enjoyed visiting today? You are welcome to stop by anytime for further inspiration or you can visit my Instagram @cherylespiecreates where I try to post new designs 4-5 times a week. Your next stop on the blog hop is the super talented Nathalie DeSousa so go show her some love and support and good luck! Until next time....
